A Windows-first Matrix chat client with encrypted rooms, staged attachments, inline media, bookmarks, local history, and hardened link previews.

## What it does

Rift Chat puts Matrix rooms, direct conversations, attachments, media, bookmarks, and local search into a desktop interface. Version 2.1.1 is the current stable Windows x64 release, rebuilt in Rust and Tauri. The per-user installer uses the installed Microsoft WebView2 runtime, downloading it only when it is missing. Signed updates are delivered from boganpanda.com, with release notes and restart controls in the app.

## Intended use

A practical desktop client for Matrix conversations, including encrypted rooms, without relying on a browser tab.
